Brother John's Eulogy

When I think of Kristy only one phrase comes to mind: "One of a kind". She just had a certain glow about her, always being the life of the party. Kristy always strived to be the best in everything that she did. Whether it was school, athletics, or just being there as a friend or family member to turn to.

During her school years, she was a true student athlete. Participating in sports such as cross-country, softball, basketball, and her favorite, volleyball. Competitive, yes, she was in everything she did, but she truly cherished all the good times and friends she made on and off the field. As a student, she was a member of the National Honor Society, on the principals list, Italian club, and president of the student council, proving she was a leader not a follower. When she graduated, she made us all proud because she excelled in everything she put her mind to.

Accepted to St. John's University in Queens, she became a psychology major. Kristy was inducted into the Golden Key National Honor Society as a 4.0 student. She also fulfilled her dream by studying abroad in Italy.

By far Kristy was the biggest humanitarian I've ever known. Never selfish, she would always love to help someone else before she helped herself. Whether it was giving advice or just being someone who opened her heart and listened to your problems. Kris was the best at that. She volunteered at Creedmore Psychiatric Center and worked for AHRC where she would just brighten up everybody's day. It gave her such satisfaction to see other people smile when they were in need.

In her busy schedule she also found time to coach a volleyball team for St. Francis DeChantel Church in Wantagh. She loved every one of those girls.

Despite all of her involvement in academics, volunteering, and coaching volleyball, she always made time and took extreme pleasure in babysitting our four cousins, Lauren, Matthew, Daniel, and Bryan. Let us never let them forget Kristy. They may have lost a cousin, but they gained a guardian angel.

Through all the trials and hard times life handed her, she realized that material things were for material people. Family and friendships, that's what life was about. Strength, bravery, courage, smart, athletic, committed, friend, full of life, faithful, beautiful and loving, that was my sister. Although we've had our brother sister differences, I’ve been blessed with twenty-one years of a loving, caring sister. Kristy you'll forever be in our hearts until we meet up with you again.
